Vivace Youth Singers

Vivace Youth Singers (Middle School/High School)

This is a choir made up of teens who love to sing. We have rehearsal once a week on Tuesdays at the Sul Ross choir room from 6:00-7:00. We learn songs both in harmony and unison. We include both high and low voices, so guys with changed voices are welcome to join! We perform music in a variety of styles, including sacred, pop, Disney, folk, world music, and others. Our goal is to help teens have fun singing while growing as musicians, and to produce excellent music that will bless the community.

Please contact Noelle Karleen for more information!

ATTENDANCE

We have a limited number of rehearsals, so it’s important that everyone be there. That being said, life happens and everyone needs to miss sometimes. You can miss up to 3 rehearsals. After that, we’ll need to have a conversation about what progress you are making and whether you will be ready to perform or not, considering the practices you have missed.

ON-TIME ARRIVAL

Our rehearsals are every Tuesday afternoon from 6:00-6:50, from January 14 through May 6. Please make an effort to get there on time. We start by warming up, right at 6:00, and it is very important that your voices be warmed up in order to sing safely and comfortably. Also, coming in late creates a disturbance for others.

PICK-UP TIME

Please communicate the new ending time to your parents/guardians: we are now ending rehearsal ten minutes later at 7:00!

COMMUNICATION

We use group texts to communicate important schedule information. Please make sure the director has your name and phone number!

DUES - $25 DONATION

Big Bend Community Chorale, Big Bend Children's Chorus and Vivace Youth Singers are all community ensembles. Some of their expenses include paying musicians, renting performance locations and especially buying sheet music, which can add up quickly. (To give an idea, it takes about $30-$50 to equip a choir with one piece of music...) With this in mind, we are asking for a donation of $25 per family to help our choir continue to function well. However, this is not a reason for anyone to reconsider being in choir. We will accept everyone regardless of payment!

CONCERT ATTIRE

Concert attire is all black, including black shoes and black belts. Remember not to wear colognes or perfumes as some people have allergies to these and we will be standing very close together for the concert. Remember to shower and look and smell fresh for the concert. Please be conscious, if you wear a skirt or a dress, how short it is, as we have to stand on stage and the audience look up at us. The idea with concert attire is for everyone to blend in as much as possible.

RULES

These are the rules for Vivace Youth Singers

We don't anticipate having a problem. However, if you cannot keep these rules and it is making choir less enjoyable for other singers, we may have to have a conversation about whether this choir is a good fit for you or not.
