Have a good day! I hope you are as excited about this week's topic as I am. In the first part of my article, I will talk about virtual reality and a little bit about bots. Of course, integrated into educational purposes.
Virtual reality can be used in language learning. As you can see in the image, you can exercise your speaking, listening or writing skills. One of the most common and effective ways of utilising VR in education is via virtual reality classrooms, or immersive classrooms. An immersive classroom is a teaching room in which images are projected onto the internal walls of the room. This creates a virtual environment within the classroom.
Here I have compiled a few apps that I think might be useful for education and you can access their websites by clicking on the icons.
In the second part of my article, I will talk about Intelligent chatbots. Education chatbots are conversational bots used by EdTech companies, universities, schools, or any educational institute. They are virtual assistants that help teach students, evaluate papers, get students' data, update curriculums, and coordinate admission processes.
Speaking of all this virtual reality, we also need to talk about Machinima.
Machinima is a term used to describe the use of real-time computer graphics engines to create a cinematic production. Typically, these stories are realized by repurposing video game assets to generate animated films for sharing on the web.
CAMELOT is unique in that it aims to promote the role of video production in language teacher training It is innovative in that it takes one of the latest technologies –machinima– and uses it to empower 21st century language learning and teaching through the use of
user-generated video content,
a task-based language teaching approach based on learner engagement, authenticity and creativity,
an online community of practice in which open educational resources (OERs) are available via a repository.
Second Life, Minecraft, and Gather are some examples of virtual environments for Machinima. Thanks to these technologies, a virtual classroom environment can be created and students can have information on any subject they wish.
