" I would've really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you,"
" I would've really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you,"
Today at the terrace,
With the cold wind blowing,
Under the stars and the moon,
While the red bird sang,
You held my hand when I cried.
And when I looked up ,
I saw your face full of love.
And that one second
Felt like an infinity.
We felt infinite.
And I thought I want
More than an infinity with you.
There is a wine darker than midnight
It lulls me to sleep and flies me to dreams
Where everything is possible and joy is infinite
My emotions break like cloudburst,
I feel light and fluffy and soft.
Like cotton candy clouds.
Rich and dark yet honey sweet
It tastes like stardust and rainbow
Like a cool pond on a summer day.
But I need no sip of it,
only the press of your forehead to mine.
You, my love,
are my dark wine,
my morning coffee,
my sweetest intoxication.
One touch, one glance,
and I am undone.
Drunk on you,
As you yank down heaven
Into this ordinary room
At this extraordinary moment,
I ‘ve had to use strong words in my poetry
Like bastard and son of a bitch or moron
While writing about the boys in my life.
But you’re none of that. You are my calm.
*Phew, deep breaths* Are you for real?
I feel like a feather floating in an endless ocean of clouds.
In our little world- in the microns between our kissing lips,
All is white and quiet and peaceful and our angels sing for us
The red bird and Chicago and naan pogiren mele mele
You are my comfort. Like my everyday cup of coffee.
Like the paruppu saadham and potato poriyal amma makes.
Like my purple pyjama we bought together that says ‘just chill’.
