Week 2

A mobile edit on a laptop! First one of those I’ve done a long time. It’s a bit different editing in Resolve on a 13” Apple M4 laptop instead of a 4k 28" monitor but we got there. You can view the video on the Peace & Hope Facebook page.

No words as such today, I thought some photos from the day with a couple of comments would do.

When is a 50 year old desk not a desk?

I've spent a couple of days debating this in my head and trying to write it. There is a young woman here at the SECAF church who helps clean and prepare food for the volunteers and just generally helps throughout the day. She lives locally and has 2 children at University.

You may have seen some old desks were sent out in a Peace and Hope container some time ago that have been stored as no immediate use was found for them. We've painted them bright colours and they will go into the new building when it's finished.  One desk had broken hinges and evidence of termite damage so it didn't get painted. The young woman was cleaning it and Marissa asked if it was of any use and did she want the desk..... 

You could see visible tears and emotion, she couldn't belive that someone actually wanted to give her this old childrens desk, and she commented that she's never had a table of any sort in her house. She spent the afternoon lovingly cleaning it like it the most expensive item of furniture she had. Her husband collected it on his motorbike later that day and we asked her the following day if they had had their dinner on it - she said yes and nearly broke down in tears again......I'm struggling with that.

Just to show I have been working. I couldn't have done this trip without the DJI Action 4 cameras, they have been invaluable for some great 4K footage and camera angles.

Sunday - Dedication day for the new building. Photos to follow.

A couple of pictures from today. The 'mostly' finished room, it needs a few tweaks on Monday. The food arrives...! We got hauled up on stage for a group photo with all the church officials from SECAF.

Had a great time using the Kodak Instant camera, they were amazed at seeing the colour photos pop out 2 minutes after taking them.

Our last day in Sindangan, a few tidy up jobs at the new centre then off to visit a few of the poorer communities around the area to deliver some toys from money donated and soft toys made by the ladies at Gorsley Chapel. The Kodak Instant camera was again a bit hit!

Now in Manila till 3.30am! Shuttle bus to terminal for flight to Beijing, then Munich then Heathrow. Hopefully arriving back in Dymock around 3.30am Friday. Some images from the drive to the 'hotel' and the view from my room.
