Denise Aselage
In addition to co-coordinating the Writers’ Workshop, Denise serves DEV students in the ENG department and students in the Tartan TOPS Comprehensive Transition and Post-secondary Program. She is currently taking graduate English courses through the Ohio Writing Project at Miami University. With twenty-three years of teaching experience in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary education, Denise has a plethora of knowledge in curriculum development. She has also had the opportunity to coordinate a mentoring program for students. Denise has taught at Sinclair for twelve years, and she has savored the success of her students. When she is not teaching, Denise enjoys exercising, reading, or attending her daughters’ activities.
Sharyn Hunter
In addition to co-coordinating the Writers’ Workshop, Sharyn has served students in the ENG department, has been involved in campus-wide committees, and has become a proud Daytonian in the sixteen years she has been at Sinclair. During her graduate studies, she taught at Youngstown State University (Go, Penguins!) and The University of Arizona (Go, Wildcats!) where she reimagined and reconstructed her own writing process and emerged with a stronger approach to the teaching of writing. Before Sinclair, her favorite teaching gig was at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ, where she collaborated with learners of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. In all, she has been teaching college writing for over twenty-five years, which have been equally rewarding and challenging. When she is not teaching, one can find her seeking out bodies of water, cycling, listening to her favorite musician (much to her family’s dismay), and planning her podcast.
