"Got my dress! What do I do now???"
Woohoo! You got your dress! Now it's time for alterations! The most common alterations we've done are bust, hems, and hip/waist take in or take out. Even if you have a dress that fits your perfectly, you may need a bustle for that long train! Firstly, reserve a booking 4-2 months before your wedding, espeically do it earlier if you will be a out town/out of state bride. Contact us to book, and if you are last minute, we may be able to take you in!
"What should I do before and after the first fitting appointment?"
We are glad to have you! Before your 1st appointment, please search a good well fitted bra and undergarments that will want to wear with your dress. This also goes for mother of the bride and bridemaids dresses. Second, also bring in your heels, shoes, boots, or whatever your feet will be covered when wearing with the dress at the day of the wedding. We highly advise to do this to avoid being re-scheduled, as it is important to be able to begin any type of work. "How much will it cost to alter my dress?"
The best (and always) the way to determine how much the alterations cost will be during the first initial fitting. Of course, all dress are not alike and not all brides have the same need, however, a common range of cost may run anywhere from $200 to $700+. If in budget, we can discuss further on what ways we can fit in your budget.
"I have a second hand/vintage dress, what should I know?"
Either it be Vintage or modern pre-owned dress, we've had a fair chance of dealing with these lovely second hand dresses. and yes, we are open minded about them!
Of course, due to it being worn and re-owned, there always comes a risk of alterations. The cost may double compared to alterating a non-trouched dress due to the complexity and unknown of what alterations work has done prior. As the saying goes in the seamstress world, best to take it in than letting out, a.k.a get a dress a size bigger because taking it in is no gunratee of possibility!
However, We absolutely can work on it! Please ensure the condition of the dress is not only in good condition, but clean and no foul ordor. We will not accept any dresses that are not cleaned or ordoless. We recommend having it done by taking it to the Dry Cleaners near you.
"May I bring company to my appointment?"
Yes, you may! However, please only bring 1 or 2 people. While it is a great experince for a bride to bring somoene close, we are a home-based buisness in small home that only has so much room. We hope you can respect our space!
"Do you own any pets in your home-based buisness?"
Yes, we own 2 dogs that are always in their rooms and far away when clients arrive and stay for their appointments. Our 2 lovely furries do not touch any garments as all garments are always hanged on a clothing rack that and no garments touches or even is close to the floor. We understand few people may have allergies and we will happy to try to accomodate.
