# Calculator Terms of Use
**JanoGroup LLC**
**Effective date:** October 13, 2026
**Last updated:** October 13, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Calculator, its iOS Home Screen widget, and related support services (the “Service”), provided by JanoGroup LLC (“JanoGroup,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Washington, DC, USA.
**Contact:** [janogroupllc@gmail.com](mailto:janogroupllc@gmail.com)
**Important:** Calculator is a mathematical utility, not a professional advisory service or a safety-critical tool. Verify your inputs, settings, expressions, graphs, and results before relying on them, particularly for consequential decisions. Numerical results may be rounded, graphs are sampled approximations, and the widget evaluates operations differently from the full calculator. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
## 1. Acceptance and eligibility
By accepting these Terms or using the Service after they have been made available to you, you agree to them to the extent applicable law recognizes that acceptance. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Acceptance of these Terms does not constitute consent to optional personal-data processing.
You must have legal capacity to enter this agreement or use the Service with legally sufficient authorization and supervision from a parent or guardian. The Service is not directed to children under 13. Higher local age and parental-authorization requirements apply.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. Applicable app-store eligibility and usage rules also apply.
## 2. What the Service provides
Calculator provides supported mathematical tools, including:
- Basic arithmetic, parentheses, and percentage operations.
- Scientific functions, including trigonometry, inverse trigonometry, logarithms, square roots, powers, factorials, reciprocals, and constants.
- Multiple-function graphing with adjustable ranges, panning, and zooming.
- Percentage-of-value, proportion, and percentage-change calculations.
- Limited calculation history, copying, and sharing.
- Light and dark interface modes and supported language translations.
- An interactive basic-calculator Home Screen widget on supported iOS devices.
Features depend on the installed version, operating system, device capabilities, and supported input format. The interactive iOS widget requires iOS 17 or later.
The Service is not a general-purpose computer algebra system. It does not promise support for every mathematical expression, unlimited numerical precision, unlimited input size, or every mathematical domain.
The current app is supported by advertising and does not offer a subscription or Premium entitlement. Any future paid offering would require separate purchase disclosures and applicable terms.
## 3. Calculation accuracy and interpretation
### Numerical precision
The Service uses finite-precision numerical computation. Results may be affected by floating-point limitations, rounding, display formatting, overflow, or values outside the supported range.
A displayed decimal, scientific-notation value, or running result is not a guarantee of an exact mathematical answer. The Service does not provide arbitrary-precision arithmetic or exact symbolic solutions.
Check that the displayed expression matches what you intended to enter. Incorrect inputs, unsupported syntax, incomplete expressions, software defects, or device limitations can affect results.
An error message, omitted graph point, or undefined result is not a successful calculation.
### Scientific functions and angle settings
Trigonometric results depend on whether degrees or radians are selected. Confirm the active setting before calculating or plotting.
Functions have mathematical domain restrictions. Examples include division by zero, logarithms of non-positive values, square roots of negative values in a real-number calculator, and factorials outside the supported range.
The scientific calculator may close remaining opening parentheses when you press Equals. Review the completed expression rather than assuming it matches your intended grouping.
### Percentage behavior
Percentage interpretation depends on the calculator mode and expression.
The dedicated percentage calculator uses the formulas displayed in that mode. Percentage change uses:
**(New value − Original value) / Original value × 100**
A zero original value cannot be used in that formula. For negative original values, the signed denominator affects the interpretation of the result.
Scientific percentage operations divide the operand by 100. Basic-calculator percentage handling may interpret a percentage relative to another value in the expression. Do not assume that every mode or another calculator uses identical percentage conventions.
Percentage results saved to history may use the numerical percentage value. For example, a stored result of `25` for a percentage calculation represents `25%`, not the decimal proportion `0.25`.
### Input formats and translations
Supported typed inputs can accept decimal commas and Arabic digits, which are normalized for calculation. Thousands separators are not supported as grouping notation. Check normalized inputs and displayed results.
Translations assist with navigation and understanding but do not change mathematical function identifiers, numerical storage conventions, or the underlying formulas.
If wording or notation is unclear, verify the intended operation independently.
## 4. Graphing limitations
Graphs are numerical, sampled approximations of supported functions, not symbolic proofs or exact descriptions of every point.
Displayed curves depend on the function, degree/radian setting, viewport, sampling, and screen resolution. Narrow features, discontinuities, asymptotes, intersections, or rapidly changing behavior may not be fully represented.
The graphing calculator attempts to omit undefined points and avoid connecting across detected discontinuities. It does not guarantee detection of every discontinuity or accurate rendering at every scale.
Do not treat the absence of a visible point, curve, or intersection as proof that it does not exist. Likewise, a displayed connection is not proof that a function is continuous.
Use explicit multiplication where required, such as `2*x`, rather than assuming all conventional handwritten notation is accepted.
Graph plots are not saved to the app’s shared numerical calculation history.
## 5. iOS widget behavior
The widget is intended for quick basic calculations and does not duplicate every feature of the full app.
The widget evaluates operations as they are entered using immediate execution. This can produce a different result from the full calculator’s operator-precedence evaluation.
For example:
- In the widget, entering `2 + 3 × 4 =` produces `20`.
- In a standard-precedence calculator, `2 + 3 × 4` produces `14`.
Use the full app when you need parentheses, scientific functions, graphing, or more detailed expression review.
The widget maintains separate local calculator state. Widget updates and responsiveness can depend on iOS scheduling, device conditions, and system restrictions.
Widget content may be visible to anyone who can view your Home Screen. Removing the widget does not necessarily erase its saved state.
## 6. Use limitations and independent verification
The Service is not medical, engineering, financial, accounting, tax, legal, or other professional advice.
Do not rely on it as the sole basis for:
- Medical dosing or treatment decisions.
- Safety-critical engineering, construction, or equipment operation.
- Financial transactions or investment decisions.
- Accounting, tax, legal, or regulatory filings.
- Other decisions where an incorrect result could cause significant harm.
Independently verify consequential results with an authoritative source or appropriately qualified professional.
Follow applicable school, examination, workplace, and professional rules when using calculator assistance.
To the extent permitted by law, you remain responsible for your inputs, settings, interpretation, and decisions. This does not excuse any nonwaivable obligation owed by us.
## 7. License and intellectual property
Subject to these Terms and applicable store rules, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use the Service on devices you own or control for lawful personal or internal business purposes.
Store-authorized sharing or organizational use is permitted where supported by the applicable store rules. No ownership of the Service is transferred.
The Service’s code, design, branding, artwork, and original content belong to JanoGroup or its licensors. Third-party components and trademarks remain subject to their owners’ rights and applicable licenses.
These Terms do not restrict rights expressly granted by an applicable open-source license.
We do not claim ownership of the numbers or equations you enter or of mathematical facts merely because the Service displays them. This does not grant permission to copy or redistribute protected app code, designs, or branding.
## 8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the Service unlawfully or infringe another person’s rights.
- Interfere with the security or availability of the Service or associated providers.
- Introduce malicious code or manipulate advertising systems.
- Bypass legitimate security or access controls.
- Make abusive or excessive automated requests to associated services.
- Resell the Service or redistribute protected content without authorization.
- Reverse engineer the Service except where applicable law permits despite this restriction.
We may reasonably restrict access to associated services to address abuse, security risks, or legal requirements, subject to applicable law.
## 9. Local storage, history, and sharing
Calculations are performed on your device.
The app saves up to **20 recent calculation entries** locally across basic, scientific, and percentage modes. This history persists between sessions until cleared, replaced by newer entries, or removed with app data.
The widget separately stores its calculator state locally. The app also stores review-prompt information and uses other local state to operate its features.
We do not promise a JanoGroup cloud backup, cross-device history synchronization, or recovery of deleted calculations.
Local information may be lost through deletion, reinstall, device failure, operating-system changes, or clearing app data. System backups may preserve or restore some information, depending on platform settings.
Keep an independent record of calculations you need to retain.
Copying places selected information on your device’s clipboard. Sharing passes selected content to the application or recipient you choose. You are responsible for checking the content and recipient before sharing.
## 10. Third-party services and advertising
The app uses Google AdMob and participating advertising providers to display banner and interstitial ads. The current app requests non-personalized advertising, but this does not mean that advertising involves no personal information.
Advertisements and external links are not endorsements of a product, service, claim, or destination. Third parties control their own advertisements, websites, stores, and services.
Calculations operate locally, but advertisements, store pages, email support, and sharing destinations may require an internet connection. You are responsible for applicable device and network charges.
The Privacy Policy explains advertising, local storage, permissions, and information handling. Declining optional permissions does not waive your statutory rights.
## 11. Reviews, feedback, and support
The app may display a custom star-rating dialog. Selecting a star does not automatically submit an app-store review or send written feedback to JanoGroup.
Higher star selections may open the store review page, while lower selections display a thank-you message. Reviews submitted through a store are subject to that store’s rules and privacy practices.
We may provide support by email but do not promise a particular response time or resolution unless separately agreed or required by law.
If you voluntarily provide suggestions, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use those suggestions to improve or develop products, to the extent you have the right to grant that permission.
This does not transfer ownership of unrelated content or grant rights to personal information beyond the Privacy Policy.
Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or confidential material unnecessarily.
## 12. Changes, suspension, and discontinuation
We may update or maintain the Service, change features, or discontinue some or all of it. We may restrict associated services for material breach, abuse, security needs, or legal requirements.
Where reasonably possible and required by law, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address a breach.
This section does not allow us to avoid mandatory obligations or remedies concerning the Service.
You may stop using and uninstall the app at any time. Provisions that should survive by their nature, including intellectual-property protections, lawful liability limits, and dispute provisions, continue to apply.
## 13. Warranties and disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided **“as is” and “as available.”**
We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, exact results in every circumstance, support for every expression or device, complete graph rendering, or a particular educational or professional outcome.
To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
These disclaimers do not exclude express commitments or statutory warranties, reasonable-care obligations, conformity requirements, or consumer remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
## 14. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, JanoGroup and its officers and employees will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or lost profits, anticipated savings, or data arising from use of or inability to use the Service.
This includes losses associated with incorrect inputs, misunderstood percentage conventions, degree/radian settings, rounding, graph approximations, widget evaluation behavior, or erroneous calculations.
To the extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:
1. The amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
2. **US$100**.
These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, willful misconduct, or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable protections for gross negligence or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Mandatory consumer and data-protection rights remain unaffected. Where local law requires a different rule, that law controls.
## 15. Responsibility for unlawful misuse
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify JanoGroup against third-party claims and reasonable resulting costs caused by your unlawful misuse of the Service or knowing infringement of third-party rights.
This applies only to the extent attributable to your conduct, not our negligence, misconduct, or breach. It does not impose an indemnity on a consumer where prohibited or unfair under applicable law.
We will provide prompt notice of a covered claim and a reasonable opportunity to participate in its defense. No settlement may impose an admission, payment, or continuing obligation on you without your consent, subject to applicable law.
## 16. Disputes and governing law
We encourage you to contact **[janogroupllc@gmail.com](mailto:janogroupllc@gmail.com)** with the subject **“Calculator dispute”**, describing the issue and requested resolution.
Informal discussions do not prevent urgent relief, regulatory complaints, small-claims proceedings, or filing before an applicable legal deadline.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
To the extent lawful and enforceable, disputes will be heard in the courts located in or serving Washington, DC.
Consumers retain mandatory protections under their home jurisdiction’s laws and any right to bring proceedings in a legally available local court.
These Terms do not require binding arbitration, waive class-action rights, or impose a shortened contractual claim deadline.
## 17. Apple App Store provisions
If you obtain the app through Apple’s App Store, the following apply to the extent required by Apple’s rules:
- This agreement is between you and JanoGroup, not Apple. JanoGroup is responsible for the app and its content.
- Your license is limited to Apple-branded products you own or control under Apple’s Usage Rules, including applicable Family Sharing or volume-purchase rules.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
- If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund any applicable purchase price under its rules. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- JanoGroup, not Apple, is responsible for applicable product-liability, legal, regulatory, consumer-protection, privacy, and intellectual-property claims concerning the app, subject to mandatory law.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on a US government prohibited or restricted-party list, as required by Apple’s rules.
- You must comply with applicable third-party agreements.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as applicable to your App Store license and may enforce them against you.
If Apple’s standard licensed application end-user license agreement applies, or mandatory store rules conflict with these Terms, the applicable store license and mandatory rules control to the extent of the conflict.
Publishing these Terms on a website does not itself register a custom EULA with Apple.
## 18. Google Play and export compliance
If you obtain the app through Google Play, applicable Google Play terms also apply. JanoGroup, not Google, provides the Service except where mandatory law or Google’s terms state otherwise.
You must not access, export, re-export, or use the Service in violation of applicable export-control laws, sanctions, or trade restrictions.
## 19. Events beyond reasonable control
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for delays or interruptions caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including network failures, natural disasters, government actions, provider outages, or changes in law.
This does not excuse a failure to take legally required precautions or provide mandatory remedies.
## 20. Updates to these Terms
We may revise these Terms to reflect Service, business, provider, or legal changes. Revisions will display an updated date.
We will provide appropriate notice of material changes and obtain acceptance where required. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights or replace required consent.
If you disagree with validly introduced new Terms, stop using the Service, subject to your applicable legal rights.
## 21. General provisions and contact
These Terms and applicable mandatory store rules govern use of the Service. The Privacy Policy explains personal-information handling and does not itself authorize optional processing.
If a provision is invalid, the remainder continues to the extent lawful. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
You may transfer this agreement only where store rules or law permit. We may transfer our rights and obligations in a reorganization, merger, or business transfer only consistently with applicable law and without reducing mandatory protections.
Except for the Apple provisions and rights required by law, these Terms create no third-party beneficiary rights.
