# Calculator Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how JanoGroup LLC (“JanoGroup,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Washington, DC, USA, handles information in connection with the Calculator application, its iOS Home Screen widget, and related support services (the “Service”).

**At a glance:** Calculator performs basic, scientific, graphing, and percentage calculations on your device. It does not require a JanoGroup account or upload your entered equations to a JanoGroup calculation service. The app saves a limited calculation history and review-prompt information locally. The iOS widget separately saves its calculator state on your device. The app uses Google AdMob for advertising, which can involve personal information even when ads are requested as non-personalized.
## 1. Scope and roles
This policy covers information handled through the Service and information you choose to send us for support.
JanoGroup is responsible for its processing of personal information. Third-party providers may process information on our behalf or independently for their own purposes, depending on the service and applicable agreements. Their privacy notices supplement this policy.
External websites, app stores, advertisements, email services, and applications you choose to use have their own privacy practices.
This policy is a notice, not a request for blanket consent. Where processing requires consent, that consent must be obtained separately through an appropriate permission or choice process.
## 2. Information handled by the Service
### Calculations and graphs
Numbers, mathematical expressions, functions, graph ranges, and results are processed on your device.
This includes:
- Basic arithmetic, parentheses, and percentages.
- Scientific calculations, including trigonometry, logarithms, powers, and factorials.
- Graphing functions and adjusting graph ranges.
- Percentage-of-value, proportion, and percentage-change calculations.
The app does not send your entered equations, graph functions, or calculation results to our servers or advertising providers as part of its calculation functionality. It does not use a remote AI service to solve calculations.
If you share a calculation or send a screenshot or equation to support, the information you choose to send is disclosed to your selected recipient.
### Calculation history
The app saves up to **20 recent calculation entries** locally on your device. Basic, scientific, and percentage calculations share this history.
History can include entered expressions and numerical results. It persists between sessions until cleared, removed with local app data, or replaced by newer entries.
Graph plots are not saved to the shared numerical calculation history. We do not provide a JanoGroup cloud-sync service for calculation history.
### iOS Home Screen widget
The interactive iOS widget performs basic calculations locally and saves its calculator state in an on-device App Group storage area associated with the app.
This state can include entered numbers, pending operations, displayed results, and calculation error information. The widget maintains its own state separately from the app’s shared calculation history.
Removing the widget from your Home Screen does not necessarily erase its saved state.
Widget content may be visible to anyone who can view your Home Screen. Consider this when entering information you regard as private.
### Local app state and review prompts
The app uses local state to operate its interface, calculator modes, theme controls, and other features.
It persistently stores information used to manage review prompts, including a launch count and whether you have selected a star rating in the app’s custom rating dialog.
Selecting a star stores a local flag indicating that you responded. The app does not transmit that star selection to JanoGroup or automatically submit it as an App Store review.
Integrated SDKs may also maintain local identifiers, caches, or technical state needed to operate their services.
Device and operating-system backups may include persistent local app data, depending on your backup settings.
### Advertising
The app displays Google AdMob banner and interstitial advertisements.
The current app requests **non-personalized ads**. Non-personalized advertising can still involve personal information and does not mean that no information is collected.
Google and participating advertising providers may process information such as:
- IP addresses and approximate location inferred from network information.
- Device, operating-system, and app information.
- Advertising identifiers, where available and permitted.
- Ad impressions, interactions, and performance information.
- Diagnostic, security, and fraud-prevention information.
The information processed depends on the SDK, provider configuration, device permissions, region, and applicable law.
On iOS, the app uses Apple’s **App Tracking Transparency** permission mechanism. You can decline tracking permission. Declining does not stop all advertising, networking, measurement, or fraud-prevention processing.
Device tracking permission is not a substitute for any additional advertising consent or opt-out required by applicable law.
### Copying, sharing, reviews, and external links
When you copy a calculation, the selected information is placed on your device’s clipboard. Clipboard access and synchronization depend on your operating system and settings.
When you share a calculation, the selected content is passed to the application or recipient you choose. That service’s privacy practices apply.
The app’s custom rating dialog is separate from an app-store review:
- Selecting four or five stars attempts to open the store review page.
- Selecting one to three stars displays a thank-you message.
- Choosing a star does not itself submit a public review or send written feedback to JanoGroup.
If you submit a store review, the store determines how your review and reviewer identity are displayed and processed.
Opening advertisements, developer pages, other app listings, or external links may disclose network information to the destination.
### Support correspondence
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message, attachments, and any information you voluntarily provide.
We may use this correspondence to resolve support, privacy, security, or legal requests.
Do not send passwords, payment-card details, identity documents, or unnecessary sensitive information.
The calculator does not require GPS location, contacts, camera, or microphone access to perform calculations. This does not prevent advertising providers from processing approximate location inferred from an IP address.
## 3. Purposes and legal bases
Information described in this policy is used to:
- Provide calculator, graphing, history, and widget functionality.
- Remember local app state and manage review prompts.
- Deliver and measure advertising.
- Respond to support and privacy requests.
- Diagnose technical failures and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.
Where EEA, UK, or similar law requires a legal basis, we rely, as appropriate to the particular processing, on performance of a contract for requested features, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure Service where not overridden by your rights, or consent for processing that requires it.
Optional processing does not become necessary merely because it is described in this policy. You may withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
## 4. Disclosure of information
Information may be disclosed to:
- **Advertising providers:** Google and participating partners for advertising delivery, measurement, security, and related permitted processing.
- **Operational providers:** email, support, and other providers used to respond to requests or operate related services.
- **Recipients you choose:** applications, services, or people you select when sharing information or opening external links.
- **Legal and safety recipients:** where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, investigate abuse, or establish or defend legal claims.
- **Parties involved in business changes:** where relevant information is transferred in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset transaction, subject to applicable law.
We do not sell your entered equations or calculation results.
However, advertising-related disclosures of identifiers or activity can qualify as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws, even without a monetary payment. We do not represent that an ad-supported app collects or shares no personal information.
## 5. Retention
Calculation history, widget state, and persistent review-prompt information generally remain locally until cleared where a control is available, replaced, or removed with app data.
Operating-system backups and restoration may preserve or restore local information. Removing a widget does not necessarily delete its storage, and uninstalling the app does not erase information already shared with external recipients.
We retain support correspondence and related legal or security records for as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, considering dispute resolution and applicable retention obligations.
Independent providers have their own retention schedules. Deleting local app data does not erase provider records outside our control.
## 6. Your settings and choices
You can:
- Clear the app’s calculation history using the History control.
- Copy or share calculations only when you choose.
- Change light or dark mode in the app.
- Manage iOS tracking permission through device settings.
- Manage advertising-identifier and privacy settings available on your platform.
- Clear app storage where supported, or uninstall the app, subject to platform backup and storage behavior.

These device controls do not necessarily cover every regional advertising opt-out. Do not assume the app includes a regional consent or universal opt-out control unless one is actually presented.
Calculations are performed locally and do not require an internet connection. Restricting network access may affect advertisements, store links, sharing destinations, and email support.
## 7. Regional privacy rights
Depending on your residence and the law applicable to our processing, you may have rights to request:
- Access to or a copy of personal information.
- Correction or deletion.
- Portability or restriction of processing.
- Objection to certain processing.
- Withdrawal of consent.
- Opt-out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising.
Residents of California and other applicable US states may also have rights to non-discrimination for exercising protected privacy rights.
Relevant information categories may include identifiers, app or advertising activity, approximate location, technical device information, and support correspondence. Sources, purposes, and recipient categories are described above.
To make a request, email us and explain the right you wish to exercise and the platform involved. We may need proportionate verification or limited information to locate relevant records. Because the app has no JanoGroup login, an email address alone may not identify an installation.
We do not ordinarily have access to calculation history stored only on your device.
Authorized agents may submit requests subject to applicable authority and verification requirements. We respond within applicable legal periods and explain any refusal and available appeal process. Where applicable, email **“Privacy appeal”** in the subject line to appeal.
We will honor legally required opt-out preference signals where they apply and are technically received. This notice does not claim that the mobile app implements a browser-based signal.
EEA and UK users may complain to their competent data-protection authority. Users elsewhere may contact the relevant privacy regulator. Contacting us first is welcome but is not required to exercise that right.
## 8. International processing and security
JanoGroup is based in the United States. Providers may process information in the US and other countries with different privacy laws.
Where legally required, appropriate transfer safeguards must apply. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to information we control.
No device, transmission method, or service can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device, clipboard, store account, and backups. Exercise care when displaying calculations in the widget or sharing information.
## 9. Children
The Service is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or intended to knowingly collect their personal information. Where a higher age or parental authorization is required locally, those rules apply.
If you believe a child has improperly provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
A store age rating does not replace applicable privacy or parental-consent requirements.
