Abstract: We introduce the non-parametric theory for minimal surfaces. The first part is aimed to the study of classical solutions to the minimal surface equation, while in the second part we describe the BV-approach to the problem. Time permitting, in the last part we attack the celebrated Bernstein problem for entire minimal surfaces.References:E. Giusti: Minimal Surfaces and Functions of Bounded Variations;D. Gilbarg, N.
