The Harris Silviculture Lab welcomes undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on experience in forestry research. Opportunities may include paid work-study positions, independent research, field data collection, quantitative analysis, and collaborative projects related to trees and forests. 

Paid Student Positions 

Undergraduate Research

Students are also encouraged to reach out about independent or collaborative research. Projects do not need to fit into a narrowly defined topic—we are interested in good questions involving trees, forests, and forest management.

Particular areas of interest include quantitative questions about forest growth, tree and stand health, forest products, and the long-term value and sustainability of forests. Students with an idea they want to explore are welcome to get in touch, even if the project is still at an early stage.
