From Initiation Phase to Closing Phase, each step in the project life cycle is vital to managing a project. Project Management isn't all about just giving the final outcome to the customer or stakeholders at the end of the project. It is about delivering a product of VALUE which respects ethical and personal codes for the great satisfaction of both the clients and team members. This is where my interest and passion lie.
I have always been fascinated by project management. Seeing how people bring an idea to life was a "light-bulb" moment in my career. I decided to do something about this inspiration because I wanted to be part of this world, looking at the glimmer in people's eyes when their projects come to life is the most satisfying feeling one could have.
From the Initiation Phase to the Closing phase, each step is vital to managing a project.
What enticed me most was the amount of collaboration/communication happening with stakeholders and team members along the project life cycle. I am typically a shy person but I realized that to be an effective Project Manager, I must be able to step out of my shy-bubble and learn to be good at communicating. It takes a long time and energy to be the best version of myself and I am still working on that. As it is said "Practice makes perfect".
Unshakably, I do not strive to be perfect, I want to be better each time and learn from my mistakes. I want to be better along my journey as a project manager. I learnt a lot from this certificate and I had to understand who I was before starting the course. I took a test to determine if I am more of a Scrum Master or Product Owner. I wasn't surprised when the test results showed I am more of a product owner.
The hard work I put on myself to master communication and negotiation skills for several years actually carved a path to what I wanted to become in my new chosen career.
Project Management from what I learnt, isn't all about just giving the final outcome to the customer or stakeholders at the end of the project, but it is about delivering a product of VALUE which respects ethical codes, personal codes and professional codes for the great satisfaction of both the clients and the team members. Insuring a better working environment and effective communication are part of the steps to become a good project manager.
