Our Magazine Issue: Roar of A Survivor Is Out! We thank everyone who came together to make this possible!
Sikimyii is the Roar of a Survivor. This movement started when a man raped a friend of mine and instead of keeping quiet as victims normally do, she roared. She told me, "Wambui, I will not shut up!" I heard in my heart, "Sikimyii!" She was a warrior! She was braver than I ever had been. She empowered me to go ahead and start Sikimyii in 2018. Today, as I look back to her, and my own story, I am ready to roar like my friend did. The only reason rape culture persists is the silence of victims. The only difference between a victim and survivor is the breaking of silence. I know, its a difficult step. But it has to be done. I am doing my story here. I hope by watching and reading my story, that you too will have the courage to share your story. Comes lets roar!
