Chapter House and Charter Update
After a year of hard work, we are very excited to announce that we have officially received our Charter and are officially recognized as a Chapter of Sigma Nu! In addition, we will be moving back into the Chapter House on North Jordan to start the 2022-2023 school year! We want to thank all of our alumni and Sigma Nu headquarters for helping us through this process of rechartering as this truly would not have been possible without your assistance. The new brothers of the Beta Eta chapter are looking forward to continuing the legacy that Sigma Nu has left on campus in the past, and we can't wait to see Sigma Nu continue to excel and leave a positive impact here at Indiana University!
Commander Statement
Dear Alumni,
This semester has been a memorable one. The newly initiated Brothers of Sigma Nu - Beta Eta have so much to be proud of and so many new memories to last them for the rest of their lives. On April 8th, 2022 the Beta Eta Colony of Sigma Nu officially rechartered and become the Beta Eta Chapter of Sigma Nu. On this historic day, it was seen amongst the brothers, that everything we have worked so hard for together finally became a reality. We knew that from that day on that as a brotherhood any goal we had was achievable if we worked together. As a brotherhood, we have to thank Benjamin Retzner (Senior), our outgoing Commander for all of the hard work he has put into this organization. Without him, none of us would have witnessed that memorable night. Also, Julian Spangler (Senior) our historian deserves a huge thank you for putting together our chartering documents for submission. He has put so much time and effort behind the scenes to help put us in the position we stand in today.
The spring semester was filled with laughter, smiles, and joy. Brothers getting together to grab a quick bite, hang out, and enjoy each other's company in any capacity. This brotherhood means something to each member and it shows through the activities and time the brothers share with each other. No matter what Candidate Class you were a part of or what year you are in college, the brotherhood of Sigma Nu supersedes that and everyone becomes one and it truly is something wonderful to witness and experience.
The Beta Eta Chapter of Sigma Nu at Indiana University also as elected a new Executive Board. These individuals, including myself, are the ones who stepped up for the fraternity and were chosen because members believed they were the best fit for their roles. As I will be the alumni contact it's only fitting I introduce myself. My name is Rehan Dhala, I am the new Eminent Commander of Sigma Nu - Beta Eta. The reason I ran for this position is that I wanted to help the Beta Eta Chapter in the best way possible. I knew that I could take on the role of the Commander and lead the Chapter and all it entails. I am super excited for the upcoming school year, as well as the whole Chapter, and we wanted to thank all the alumni for their support and guidance as we move back into our house for the 2022-23 school year!
Fraternally,
Rehan Dhala BH3095
Beta Eta Eminent Commander
Spring 2022 Initiation Ceremony and 130th Charter Anniversary Celebration
At the beginning of April, the members of the Beta Eta Chapter all became official initiated brothers after our ceremony led by Tim Huffmyer (Regent), E.G. White (Past Regent), Steve Ratterman (Vice Regent), Michael Regoli (Chapter Advisor), and Rhys Collins (Past Leadership Consultant). It was truly an honor to be in the presence of so many incredible alumni, and we are very excited to be initiated brothers after our year of hard work!
Spring 2022 Candidate Class
This spring, we added 16 new members to our brotherhood who have grown into men who live their lives under the values of love, honor, and truth thanks to our wonderful Marshall Committee. This Spring candidate class brings our chapter to over 100 active and initiated brothers in just over a year! We are excited to welcome these young men to the brotherhood, and we are confident that they will leave a positive impact on the campus as a whole and take this chapter to new heights.
Newly Elected Executive Board Members
Congratulations to the following brothers for being elected to serve on our executive board for the 2022-2023 school year! These men have been training throughout the semester to prepare themselves for their new roles, and will undoubtedly be able to help our chapter continue to make a positive impact on IU's campus.

Spring 2022 Brotherhood Retreat
Brothers Joey Cerrone and Arty Diem organized a fantastic Brotherhood Retreat where the chapter went to Stable Studios in Spencer, Indiana to do various fun team-building activities. This was truly one of the most fun and beneficial days that we have had together up to this point, and the chapter all became much closer as a whole because of the activities on this day! A special shoutout to Brothers Joey, Arty, and the rest of the Chaplain committee for putting together such a successful retreat!
Spring 2022 Philanthropy Event
This semester, the brothers decided to raise money for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) by holding an event called Sigma Smash, where people bought tickets to have an opportunity to smash an old car with a sledgehammer. All in all, we raised around $11,000 from this event, and we are excited to donate all of the money that we fundraised to such a positive cause.
First Graduating Brother
This semester, we had our first Beta Eta brother graduate from IU since returning to campus. We want to extend a huge congratulations to Brother Ben Fong for completing his undergraduate degree and moving onto the alumni chapter! Ben will soon begin training to be a Merchant/Buyer with American Eagle in Pittsburgh, and we are all extremely excited to see the big things he does in the world. Congratulations Ben!!!
