Entrepreneurship through Art

How is Burning Man so effective at promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity? What about the surrounding community?

Burning Man is truly a phenomenon, and something that could only exist in the modern times we are in today. Every year, thousands of people gather in the middle of the desert to share their imagination with the world. At Burning Man, being a little crazy, wacky, and unique is encouraged; in fact, it is the whole point. It's an open forum for some of the most creative people in the world to share, collaborate, and draw inspiration from each other. People from all over the world, of all races, religions, cultures, incomes, experiences, and opinions gather at this festival together. Diversity is the driving force behind its ability to inspire new ideas never thought of before. The intermingling of thousands of vastly different individuals generates some of the most unique and interesting art in the world, from which inspiration can be drawn and then applied to countless problems in the world today. From our visit to the exhibit, some of the art pieces were so out there, so different, and yet, we were able to find some sense from them. As we looked more closely, we noticed more and more things about each piece that we hadn't even considered, like when we took a second look at one of the pieces only to realize we missed an entirely different scene inside of the original casing. Burning Man fosters an environment where people can see things they've never imagined, allowing them to learn and create something new based on a plethora of unforeseen inspirations. The diverse communities that come from such unique events as Burning Man can play a large role in supporting creativity and innovation. Already having a shared interest of art, attendees of the festival can bond over what they experience together and join forces in the future with that preexisting mutual trust. They can use their differing perspectives to create new ideas that never could have been imagined on their own. These new ideas lead to the most creative and innovative results, and that is where the value lies in a creative community.
