3rd Annual

Earth & Environment Career Night

April 28, 2022, 6-8pm

In-person, outside Dietrich Theater on the

Sierra College Rocklin Campus

Who is this for?

This event is free and open to the public.

The target audience is current Sierra College student scholars in the Earth & Environment Interest Area or related majors, but all are welcome.

This is not a "job fair". Rather, it's an informational event designed to introduce student scholars diverse career options, help them expand their networks, and connect them to local and regional resources.

This event is also valuable for alumnae entering the workforce and people looking to shift their careers.

Event Overview

The event will begin with a short presentation where we will highlight the professionals in attendance and inform attendees where to find them during the networking portion of the event. We will also highlight the support services in attendance, including financial aid, counseling, and more.

Next, we will have a small panel discussion, where select professionals will answer questions submitted by student scholars prior to the event.

Finally, we will leave lots of time for you to network. You can seek out the professionals who work in areas of interest to you and engage in organic conversations with them. Get your questions answered. Explore your career dreams!

Why Attend?

You'll get a chance to ask questions (or listen to the questions that others have, if you're feeling shy). You may learn things like:

  • What career opportunities exist in fields related to agriculture, geography, environmental sciences, geology, ecology, environmental policy, and more.

  • What the varied requirements are for different types of careers (do you need a bachelor's or graduate degree for that job, or can you get right to work with your associate's degree or certificate?).

Further, you can:

  • Get advice on what sorts of internships and jobs will give you the experience needed to advance your career.

  • Learn about what employers are looking for (spoiler: in addition to your technical and soft skills, they want you to know how to write and communicate effectively).

  • Talk with academic advisors at local transfer institutions and Sierra College support staff.

There will be food!

We know this event is during dinner time, so we will be providing snacks and drinks to keep your tummy quiet and your mind attentive. We don't want a grumbling stomach getting in the way of exploring your dreams!

Who will be there?

There will be professionals from a variety of career tracks. More details coming soon!
