*Critique Leaders will tweak session guidelines to fit their workshop method/teaching style
Critique Session - maximum of five people per group.
Cost - $30 per person. Reservations are first come, first serve. The Critique Session Coordinator assigns your session leader/genre based on the information provided at the time of registration/ticket purchase. Please be aware if your ticket was purchased in January or if demand exceeds supply, you may be placed in a different-than-requested genre group.
Your writing will be workshopped on the spot.
The Critique Session Coordinator will contact you before the conference with your Session Leader assignment. She will also let you know if your group has specific participation instructions.
Prepare an excerpt of your work (350 word maximum for poetry, 500 word maximum for prose).
*Please do not bring a condensed version of a longer work. You may bring a part of a short story or novel, not to exceed 500 words.Print and bring six copies.
Pieces will be read aloud and receive brief feedback from group participants.
Listen carefully and be prepared to offer feedback and suggestions.
Each Critique Session Leader will summarize the comments as needed, use examples from the piece to illustrate key points about the genre, highlight possibilities for revision, and provide individual feedback for the participant.
