Why the 'Sidonian'- about the project.

Perth-Andover and the surrounding area are home to many cultures and backgrounds. The Scotch Colony, which includes Upper Kintore, the home of one of our first featured authors- Joseph Farquhar, was settled in the 1800s by some very tough immigrants.

These settlers arrived from Scotland on two principal ships- the Sidonian and the Castalia. The voyages were not easy, and settling the land even less so.

In sharing our stories, we can all find common ground in our joy and our loss. You may find yourself connecting to those you have never known and even those who have passed on by reading their words.
