Last Updated: June 14, 2025
Welcome to Sidebar AI. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Sidebar AI Chrome extension (the "Service"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Description of Service Sidebar AI is a software tool that functions as an AI-powered assistant within your browser's side panel. The Service allows you to analyze web pages, text snippets, PDF files, and other content by sending it to third-party large language models (LLMs) for processing. Key features include content summarization, text analysis, contextual prompts, event extraction with calendar integration, and customizable outputs.
2. "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOAK) Model The Service operates on a BYOAK model. To use the AI analysis features, you must provide your own valid API key from a supported third-party AI service provider (e.g., Google, OpenAI, Anthropic).
User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for obtaining your API key and for all costs, usage fees, and rate limits associated with your use of that key.
No Affiliation: Sidebar AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the third-party AI service providers.
3. Permitted and Prohibited Uses The Service is intended for productivity, research, and informational purposes. You agree not to use the Service for any of the following prohibited activities:
Any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law.
Academic dishonesty, including but not limited to plagiarism or cheating.
Infringing on the rights of others, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.
Generating or disseminating misinformation, disinformation, or hate speech.
Any activity that violates the terms of service of the third-party AI provider whose API key you are using.
4. Intellectual Property
The Service: We retain all rights, title, and interest in and to the Service itself, including its code, UI design, and branding.
Your Content: We claim no ownership over the text or content you provide for analysis ("Input") or the content generated by the AI service ("Output"). You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to process any content you submit.
Third-Party Libraries: The Service utilizes open-source libraries, which are governed by their own licenses.
5. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability The Service is provided "as-is" and "as-available" without warranties of any kind. AI-generated output may contain inaccuracies, errors, or biased information. You must independently verify any critical information before relying on it. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content generated through the Service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer of Sidebar AI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Service.
6. Modification of Terms We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms within the extension or on our website. Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Service, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Williamson County, Tennessee, and you expressly consent to the jurisdiction of said courts.
