Reflection on Original Project

Project Overview 

River Pulse is a retreat and community building located beside the Selangor River. The design is inspired by the natural flow of the river, transforming its curves into a fluid architectural form that expresses movement and continuity.

The project draws inspiration from Zaha Hadid’s architectural philosophy, which emphasizes dynamic curves and fluid forms. However, the design simplifies these ideas to create a practical and buildable architecture suitable for the site and project scale.

Design Objectives

• Maximize natural ventilation and daylight.

• Provide flexible spaces for community activities.

• Express movement and rhythm through architecture.

Design Challenges 

• Translating the organic movement of the river into a practical architectural form.

• Maintaining the fluid appearance while ensuring the building remains simple and buildable.

• Organizing circulation under a continuous curved roof.

• Balancing aesthetics with environmental performance.

• Reflecting Zaha Hadid’s philosophy without directly copying her work.
