What is cyberbullying ?

Cyberbullying is an act of harassing people through the utility of social media, it involves posting embarrassing, bad things about a person using phones, digital devices (Kimberly, 2022).

The causes of cyberbullying:

Abused lead to additional bullying-when a child was once bullied so he or she bully others in terms of seeking revenge (Kimberly, 2022). Secondly the victim "Deserves it" this cause is done when there is jealousy. For instance, when a leaner is doing well in class might be cyberbullied by the slow learner who is envious of the student performance (Kimberly, 2022). Thirdly, cyberbullies are bored they bully others probably because they have no say at home, they are not taken serious by their parents, so they seek attention. Boredom can cause cyberbullying because they want to amuse themselves by utilising social media (Kimberly, 2022).Lasty cyberbullies bully others because of peer pressure, they want to be accepted or blended in a group of friendship (Kimberly, 2022).

 

Consequences of cyberbullying (Kimberly, 2022).

The victim can think of committing a suicide. Learners who are victims may not want to attend school because they are scared of being bullied. Victims of cyberbullying my start isolating themselves from other and lack confidence that will cause them to have a low self-esteem. May experience challenges when it comes to physical and mental health. Some victims of cyberbullying may see alcohol as the solution and start drinking alcohol and sniffing drugs (Kimberly, 2022).

Ways to prevent cyberbullying (Kimberly, 2022)

People must avoid posting their personal information on the internet to keep their information safe and for the sake of privacy. Voice up when cyberbullying is taking place to get assistance before it cause a lot of damage to you. Password must be kept private to avoid being bullied (Kimberly, 2022).
