Conference Venue

The conference ia held on the campus of Western Washington University in Bellingham Washington.  All events will be held in the Academic Instructional Center West building.    See building "AW" on the campus map.       Google maps


Directions

By car

Bellingham is located on the I-5 corridor 90 miles north of Seattle and 60 miles south of Vancouver, BC. To get to campus, take I-5 exit 252 for Samish Way and follow the signs to Western Washington University.


By plane

Bellingham is served by Bellingham International Airport (code BLI) with regular flights to and from Seattle, Las Vegas and Oakland.

It is often cheaper to fly to Seattle or Vancouver, BC. Shuttle service to Bellingham from the Seattle airport is offered by Bellair Airporter Shuttle and from Vancouver e.g. by Quick Shuttle.


By train

Bellingham is a stop on the AMTRAK Cascades line between Vancouver, BC and Eugene, OR.


Public Transportation

Western Washington University is served by the Whatcom Transit Authority. The closest bus stop to the conference building is Bill McDonald Pkwy at Rec Center (Stop IDs 3076 (northbound) and 8181 (southbound)) served by bus lines  14, 105, 108, 190 and 197.


Parking

Parking is available in the C lots just south of campus. For navigation apps, use the address "Parking lot C, Bill McDonald Pkwy, Bellingham, WA 98225".

Parking is free on Friday after 4:30pm and all day Saturday and Sunday. If you arrive on Friday before 4:30pm, please purchase hourly parking at the meters.

The conference venue (building AW) is a 4 minutes walk from parking.

If you have an ADA placard, you can use one of the disabled parking spots in lot 19G right next to the conference building.


Nearby Attractions

Western Washington University's campus is worth exploring with scenic views of Bellingham Bay from the Viking Union Building , an extensive outdoor sculpture collection and hiking trails in the Sehome Hill Arboretum

Bellingham really has two centers with shops and restaurants. Head to Downtown Bellingham for a small slice of urban entertainment and Fairhaven for upscale tourism. Both are minutes from campus. 

Bellingham is home to a surprisingly large number of microbreweries. Head to Boundary Bay, Kulshan, Wander, Aslan or another brewpub for a cold drink after the offical part of the meeting. 

Ready for a walk? Visit the scenic boardwalk along Bellingham Bay off Boulevard Park just minutes from campus, part of the South Bay Trail that connects Fairhaven and Downtown Bellingham.

Fall is salmon run season when adult salmons return to the rivers and creeks to spawn. We may be a little early in the season, but your best chance of witnessing the spectacle of packs of salmons making their way upstream is in Maritime Heritage Park close to Downtown Bellingham.
