About Us

RGSTC is focused on the following Aims & Objectives:

  • To be an agent for change, development, and advancement through inputs of science and technology;

  • To function as the prime mover for stimulating horizontal interaction between the universities, research and development institutions, industries and other institutions for developing and upgrading science and technology applications;

  • To propagate applications through studies, an adaptation of technology, formulating projects, field demonstration, imparting necessary training, consultancy, and publications;

  • To provide necessary seed capital and other inputs to the identified projects;

  • To act as a facilitator or catalyst for transfer of technology from laboratories and other research efforts to applications on a larger scale;

  • To catalyze the application of innovations in line departments of the Government: for example, in the education sector to create a knowledge-based society, improving health services etc., for sustained economic progress;

  • To create facilities in institutions for undertaking application-related research and development in areas or disciplines where such facilities are not available or are inadequate;

The Commission may also provide limited support to relevant basic research. However, the main role of the Commission shall be to promote application-oriented research and development work and thereafter its utilization on a wider scale.

"Science and Innovation Activity Centres"

This is a new Scheme launched by the Commission for the benefit of the School Students. It is a facility for students to undertake innovative activities in Science.

NCSM is an autonomous society under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India was formed on April 4, 1978. Now, it administers 25 Science Centres/Museums spread all over India. Science City, Kolkata, Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata, Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM), Bangalore and National Science Centre, Delhi are National level centres of NCSM. All having its Regional centres and District Level Centres called Satellite Units (SUs).

In addition to development of Science centres/museums, NCSM strives to communicate Science and educate masses by its Mobile Science Exhibitions, Lectures and Demonstrations, Training and Workshops, Publications etc. NCSM has also sent exhibition to countries like Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Russia, USA, Bhutan, China, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, France and the journey continues.

NCSM has established Memorandum of Understanding with RGSTC and lending technical and logistic support to establish Science and Innovation Activity Centre across Maharashtra.

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) being a Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), an autonomous institute fully funded by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, with its campus located at V. N. Purav Marg, Mankhurd, Mumbai - 400 088. HBCSE is concerned with research and development in science, mathematics and technology education at the school level, teacher orientation, science popularization and the National Initiative on Undergraduate Science. HBCSE is the country's nodal centre for Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy and junior science.

Shri Shivaji Education Society (SSES) being a Society registered under the Society’s Registration Act 1860, funded by Government of Maharashtra and donors and located at Amravati, Maharashtra, is managing a number educational institutions covering primary school education to higher education, particularly in rural areas. IT is dedicated to spread of education, including science and professional education.

Shri Shivaji Science College is a premier educational institute working under Shri Shivaji Education Society. It is imparting UG, PG and Post PG Education in Science Faculty. The institution has spelled its vision as "To the develop the Institute as a centre of Higher Learning ever abreast with the expanding horizon of knowledge in the field of science and to facilitate transformation of students into good human beings, responsible citizens and competent professionals.
