Mapping Brain States to Subjective Experiences through Collaborative Research & Design
Overview
As meditation, psychedelics, and neurotechnologies become more widely adopted, both researchers and innovators are seeking ways to rigorously investigate the effects of altered states of consciousness without losing sight of their subjective depth and cultural context.
This offering supports two primary groups:
Researchers, labs, and nonprofits looking for collaborative support with study design, naturalistic data collection, neurophenomenological mapping, EEG analysis, or retreat-based protocols.
Wellness startups, retreat facilitators, clinicians, and integration specialists who wish to validate the effectiveness, safety, or mechanism of their interventions, whether therapeutic, educational, or transformative in nature.
With a background in cognitive neuroscience, collecting EEG data during advanced meditation retreats and brain stimulation trials for depression, I specialize in connecting first-person experiences with measurable outcomes. From IRB consultation to analysis of EEG data and interpretation of client-reported outcomes, I help teams build frameworks that are scientifically grounded, ethically sensitive, and practically scalable.
Whether you are building a study or validating your services, I help ensure your work holds up to both empirical scrutiny and real-world relevance.

My Background
The last 2 years, I served as the Study Coordinator of Dr. Justin Riddle’s lab at Florida State University, where I coordinated a clinical trial using brain stimulation and EEG to induce changes in goal-directed behavior in depression. In this role, I led participant management, clinical coordination, and data collection, while also supporting statistical and electrophysiological data analysis. In parallel, I collected task-based neurophenomenology data at Fire Kasina advanced meditation retreats where participants experienced altered states of consciousness. I am currently preparing a publication on an ethnographically-informed protocol for conducting neuroscience research at observational retreats, bridging scientific integrity with cultural sensitivity and participant safety.
My work spans EEG and phenomenology analysis, often involving the alignment of first-person subjective reports with neural data. I am leading a proof-of-concept study using the iAm software to capture real-time changes in verbal thought patterns during an at-home meditation intervention. This project explores new frontiers in tracking dynamic internal states in everyday environments. I also collaborate with the Institute for Advanced Consciousness Studies (IACS) to interpret neural entrainment data and assess how periodic audiovisual stimulation can enhance wellbeing, potentially rivaling meditation. I am currently editing a pre-print to help prepare findings for peer-reviewed publication.
Looking forward, I am designing a field study to explore integration outcomes of psychedelic experiences at festivals, identifying key psychological, social, and contextual factors that shape long-term therapeutic benefits or challenges. This research aims to support the creation of safe, research-informed psychedelic integration spaces at festivals, where collaboration with integration specialists and neurotech startups could yield deep insights for researchers and psychonauts alike.
Through these ongoing projects, I aim to support researchers, clinicians, facilitators, and founders seeking to empirically validate the safety, efficacy, and mechanism of their practices and technologies. Whether your goal is rigorous protocol design or field-ready wellness solutions, I bring a unique synthesis of empirical training, field experience, and cultural fluency in altered states research.
