Please send an e-mail to Sayadaw first and ask for your invitation letter. You can get a visa from the Embassy of Myanmar with the invitation letter.
When you arrive in Myanmar, look for Ooredoo or MPT dealers at the airport. Give them your cell phone and ask for a sim card (1500ks). Then ask to charge 5,000 ks. And try testing the internet. You can call and use Internet.
It takes about 3 minutes to insert sim card and set the phone.
In Most of the temples except maharshi, you will not have internet in your rooms. You could not even call in the room.
Here at Shwe War Win Temple, telephone or internet is better than Yangon city center. Inside the room, you can make phone calls, and use internet. This area is surrounded by a telephone relay tower.
Other ... Myanmar country code is +95, but once you come to Myanmar, do not use it.
Basically, myanmar taxi fee is 1000 ks in every 10 minutes. However, this principle does not apply to foreigners. In Myanmar, hotel prices are different for foreigners, and transportation charges are different too. Even if you visit the pagoda, the entrance fee is 10,000 ks for foreigners, while it is free for myanmar.
The taxi fare basically depends on the time. If you go at dawn, the fee would be 3000ks but 6,000 ks in the middle of the day.
In Addition there is a taxi by region. A taxi in the southern Dagon is going to go only in the southern Dagon. When you try to go to another area, there is no refusal to ride, but the price is very expensive.
The round-trip fare from the airport to here is 12,000 ks, but you may need to pay more than a taxi fee to come here from the airport. Anyway, because you are stranger to come to Myanmar, It will be a little difficult to come to less than 10,000 ks. There is one tip, do not take a cab in front of the airport entrance and walk out for a taxi. You may also use Uber or Grab as an option.
You can also use the 7th air-conditioned bus at Sule Pagoda, which is located in central Yangon. It takes about 2 hours. Bus fare is 200 ks.
It takes 45 minutes by taxi. The fare is 7,000 ~ 10,000 ks.
The purpose of your visit to Myanmar is to practice Samatha or Vipassana. And you must stay for a long time for meditation.
Facilities, the atmosphere of the temple, and other stress factors would be very impotant to you. So, in the end, You should find one that suits you.
Firstly, the Sayadaw can speak English very well. He is also a PH of Buddhism. And his subject was meditation ... meditation. And he has a modern mind. In fact, this is the most important.
For example it is impossible to go out for shopping in the other monastery. It would be good for meditation, but it can be hard to endure for someone.
Secondly, the internet is very good here. Internet is better than Yangon city. And the facilities are better than Mahashi or Pa Auk. There is air condition in private room. If there is anything more you need, Sayadaw will give you if you tell him.
Third, there is a market in front of the monastery and a large shopping mall is only 15 minutes away.
Oh, Shwe war win monastery is in the middle of the market. But It is still very quiet..
The disadvantage is that food is not so good.
Anyway Shwe war win monastery is the most convenient temple if you have the right mind to meditate.
In Shwe war win, a lot of Myanmar yogis come in April, August, and December and practice meditation for a month. If you come during this period, you will make great progress because you can practice meditation with many yogis.
April is not recommended. It is very hot and there are not enough rooms because there are too many people. August, and December are recommended. You come in July or November, take a room and visit Myanmar for about a month and adapt to Myanmar, then practice meditation with myanmar yogis in August and December.
It will be a chance to see how beautiful Myanmar people are as well as practice meditation.
Sayadaw is interested in education and medical care in Myanmar. So he is running a free clinic on Sundays in connection with Myanmar doctors.
If you feel uncomfortable during your staying, you will be treated for free on Sundays.
This is the Sayadaw, U Asabha. In front <U> is an honorific name in Myanmar.
He is a doctoral degree holder in Buddhism.
He has a much more flexible mind compared to other Myanmar monks.
He has no authority.
He is not a Sayadaw, but a friend in heart.
His attitude toward the people is always the same.
This is Sayadaw's name card.
The second line in Myanmar is the name of the temple.
The third line is the address.
The fourth line is the phone number.
It 's useful when you come out.
You can show it to the taxi driver.
The front gate of Shwe war win.
The building on the left is the first building of the Shwahin Temple.
Shwe war win started with that building 20 years ago.
On the first floor, monks and Myanmar yogis stay.
On the second floor, there is a small Dhamma hall.
This is Daw DeiNweiWin. In front of the <Daw> <U> is an honorific name attached woman in Myanmar
She donated the first building above and have been steadily sponsoring this temple for 20 years.
It is not easy to find out because her outfit is so simple.
Just come every day and give you a side dish.
This is the building where Sayado stay right in front of the main gate.
The first floor is where the Sayado interviews.
The second floor has a monk's room.
The third floor is a room for Sayadaw.
At the top, there is a small Dhamama hall.
The ceremony of monks is done in that hall.
There is a building where yogis stay on the side of the Sayadaw - building.
It seems to be a four story building, but actually has the fifth floor.
The G floor is the dining room and the first floor is the greate Dhamama hall.
On the second floor and the third floor is for the Yogis' room, and on the fourth floor, there is a small pagoda
The view from there is fine.
Dining room on the G floor.
The kitchen is also modern and everything is clean and good. But this area where Shwe war win monastery is is a poor area. So there is not much donation.
You can not eat better than other temples famous for foreigners.
But pork and chicken are always available.
This is the great Dhamama hall in the first floor. It has many air conditioners and fans.
It is clean. And there are not many mosquitoes.
This photo is took on Dhamma Ceremony in December 2007.
The room for foreigners on the third floor is like this.
It has an independent bathroom, toilet and a air conditioner.
It has a bed and a futon, pillow is also provided.
It is cleaner than any other meditation center.
It's a small pagoda on the fourth floor.
It is open and winds are blowing from everywhere so it is very cool.
I like to walk meditation here in the morning and evening.
It is also possible to practice meditation in Pagoda.
The pagoda has many windows on the four walls, so you don't need any air conditioner.
It was taken on a rooftop with a pagoda.
This building is actually "ㄱ" shaped.
The visible door is not front gate but another door next to the front gate.
There is an elevator in the building.
Even if you have a bad knee, you can go up and down easily.
My favorite photos.
Shwe war win monastery accept the children in February.
Sayadaw teaches English to children directly.
Children and parents came to meditate, and I was really happy at that time.
