Perhaps one of the nicest and kindest people in the whole world is Myanmar people.

In fact, if you do not have a prejudice to communism, people in communist countries are really simple maybe because they don’t own much money.

Communism has made Myanmar economically depressed, but it has been succeeded in maintaining humanity of Myanmar people. Also, even if it is economically depressed, Myanmar people have no problems to eat and live. Just because there is no US dollar, they can not have the latest mobile phone.

In Myanmar, it’s tradition for a male to become monk at least once in their life. In other words, you can think that every myanmar people resembles the heart of innocent monk.

If someone in Myanmar would charge you high price, it is only the taxi driver, and maybe just 1~2 dollars more.

The brutal Myanmar people in Rambo 4 are a lie.

Ah, That's the problem with Rohingya.

During the British colonies, England forced the Rohingya to relocate to Myanmar in order to divide Myanmar. And they have ruled a large number of Myanmar people through a small number of Rhohingya. After the British withdrew, the Rohinya people did not mix with Myanmar. they kept their religion and lifestyle. In the meantime, they did armed insurrection to get independence. Of cause Myanmarans discriminated the Rohingya, that is a mistake, but I think it is the natural feeling of a persons. Will emotions be easily released to those who repressed themselves during colonial times? And they did armed struggle for independence. Which country can accept it?

Now there are many Catholic, Heian, and Islamic temples in Yangon. It is a Buddhist country but they coexist peacefully.

Myanmar money is kyat(ks).

If you do not bring enough cash to Myanmar, you can withdraw money from ATM machine and apart from Visa and MasterCard there are many cards can be accepted. It takes a fee of 5000 ks for 300,000 ks withdrawal. And you can also get money by a remittance service like Western Union. It costs $ 30 for $ 500. It is easier to withdraw cash from ATM.

You can simply buy sim card in airport or lots of convenient store, add a few dollars you can use internet and calling overseas without any hassle.

Preparations

You can buy anything you need here. The quality is average but it is very cheap.

Here you should wear something similar to a skirt called longyi. It is quite comfortable cost about 4000 ~ 7000 ks..

In the case of shoes, most of people wear flip-flops here. There is no place to wear socks here. If you wear socks, it is no manner. running shoes are rarely needed here and they are just burdens. If you have to wear shoes like sneakers, <Akua shoes> is recommended.

Please bring your umbrella too. Umbrella is very useful under the sun. But the umbrella here has low quality.

Myanmar’s Medicare are very poor. If you take any special medicines, please bring them with you. However, you can buy the general medicine here, so do not pack a whole bunch of things and bring it with you.
