If you are curious about the process of being a Guardian home for us?
Here is what must be done:
Fill out an application here.
Phone Interview.
In-person interview in our home.
Home visit in your home.
Match dog with your need/preference. (At times we have dogs waiting for homes, other times there's a wait for you.)
Sign the Guardian Home Contract, pay the fee.
Take the puppy/dog home!
Keep in contact, ask questions, we will be in contact too!
What qualities are we looking for?
We want the best lives for our Guardian dogs.
Some things are negotiable, but others are not.
Live within 45 minutes of our home - it's easier for you if you live within 45 minutes but we can negotiate if distance is the only barrier. (**We do have some guardians that live more than 2 hours from us, but they are willing to travel to us regularly at their own expense.)
Communicative - this program requires a lot of communication between us and the guardian home.
Honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.
Willing to function as an extended part of our Shurbeez Shih Tzu family.
Willing exactness in following the contractual obligations:
Regular visits to our home,
Specific vitamins and foods,
Using our repro. vet, NO EXCEPTIONS
Grooming the dog according to our guidelines,
No dog park visits for the duration of the contract,
Etc.
Willing to train the dog to be a good canine citizen, willingly obedient, easily handled, and non-reactive pet.
Understand that we have the final say in the care and maintenance of the dog until the contractual obligations are completed.
Have a fenced & secure yard.
Have NO other unsterilized dogs of the opposite gender.
Have previous pet experience or willing to learn.
An individual or family who wants a top quality dog. Their top priority is the excellent health of and care for the dog. They are willing to care for the dog according to our guidelines.
