Research

I am interested in the physical chemistry of functional polymers. Electric properties, especially the correlation between ion and electron/hole movement, are the main interest for developing fundamental understanding and material design.

Physical Chemistry of Mixed Conducting Polymers

I am focusing on blends of different polymeric materials to improve the functionality and performance of mixed conductive materials that transport both electrons and ions. In particular, we are focusing on the relationship between structure and physical properties.

Development of Mixed Conductive Polymeric Materials

I am exploring different types of materials from PEDOT:PSS, which is the de facto standard for mixed conductive polymers. In particular, we are working to establish methodologies using the Langmuir-Blodgett and the layer-by-layer methods, which enable us to control the structure at the molecular level.

Device Application to Neuromorphic Devices and Biosensors

Using the knowledge obtained above, we are studying the application of electronic devices using mixed conductive materials. I aim to develop applications for neuromorphic devices and biosensors based on electrochemical transistor (OECT)-type device structures.
