At ShuddhScan, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, ShuddhScan (the "App"), which is available on the Google Play Store under the "Food and Drink" category.
ShuddhScan uses a hybrid architecture consisting of a native Android wrapper app (handling device integration, notifications, billing, and advertisements) and a web application hosted securely on Google Cloud Run. The App uses advanced artificial intelligence (specifically Google's Gemini AI) to scan and analyze packaged food and cosmetic products to provide ingredient breakdowns, health insights, ratings, and dietary advice.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using ShuddhScan, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy, as well as our Terms of Service.

To provide our core scanning and alert features, the App requires certain native device permissions. You can control these permissions at any time through your Android system settings:
Camera Permission: Required to capture images of product barcodes, packaging, and ingredient lists for AI analysis. Without this permission, you cannot scan products.
Approximate Geographic Location Permission: Used to determine your approximate country or region to deliver localized ingredient analysis (as regulations differ internationally), detect region-specific food safety standards, configure default currency preferences, and display relevant regional ads.
Notifications Permission (Optional): Used to send push notification alerts, meal tracking reminders, and security alerts. You can decline this permission and still use the main scanning features of the App.

Google Account Information: When you sign in to the App using Google Sign-In, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture URL.
Sensitive Health Profile Data: You may optionally choose to provide information regarding food allergies, dietary restrictions, family members’ dietary preferences, and specific medical conditions. This is considered sensitive health data. We only collect this data with your explicit consent to personalize your product ratings and dietary advice.

Product Scan Images: When you take a photo of a product, packaging, or ingredient list, the image is transmitted to our servers to be processed by Google's Gemini AI.

Device Identifiers: We may collect your IP address, device model, operating system version, and advertising identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID) for ad delivery and analytics.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) Tokens: We collect unique FCM registration tokens to route native push notifications to your Android device.
Usage & Analytics Data: We collect anonymous or pseudonymous statistics on how you navigate the App, which features you use, and button clicks, using Firebase Analytics for app performance optimization.

Purchase & Subscription Status: We process transaction history, purchase tokens, and active subscription status via the Google Play Billing API. We do not collect or store your credit card or financial credentials.

To analyze products: Sending scanned product images and text parameters to Google’s Gemini AI API to interpret ingredients and safety alerts.
To personalize your experience: Matching product ingredients against your saved Health Profile (allergies, medical conditions) to show safe/unsafe indicators.
To maintain and run the App: Managing user authentication through Firebase Auth and database storage through Cloud Firestore.
To manage subscriptions: Validating paid status, unlocking premium features, and processing billing queries.
To show advertisements: Displaying customized rewarded, interstitial, and banner ads using Google AdMob based on your approximate location and advertising ID.
To send notifications: Transmitting alerts or meal reminders via Firebase Cloud Messaging.

We do not sell your personal data. We share your information with trusted third-party service providers who help us run the App. These parties are strictly bound to secure your data and only use it for the services they provide to us:
Firebase (Google LLC): For secure Google authentication (Firebase Auth), database persistence (Cloud Firestore), usage analytics (Firebase Analytics), and notification delivery (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
Google AdMob (Google LLC): To deliver banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads. AdMob uses your advertising ID and approximate location to personalize ad campaigns.
Google Play Billing: To handle standard secure transaction management and subscriptions.
Google Gemini API (Google AI): Your scanned product images and text queries are sent to Google's Gemini model for artificial intelligence analysis. Note: Data sent to Gemini API is processed under Google's Enterprise Privacy Terms and is not used to train public AI models.
Google Cloud Run: Used to host our secure web backend which acts as a proxy for our APIs and Firestore synchronization.

IMPORTANT: ShuddhScan utilizes advanced Artificial Intelligence (Google Gemini AI) to read, transcribe, and analyze food and cosmetic ingredients.
Informational Purposes Only: The ratings, analysis, and dietary advice generated by ShuddhScan are for informational and educational purposes only.
Not Medical Advice: The App's insights do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or professional treatment. Always consult a healthcare professional regarding allergies, ingredients, or dietary restrictions.
Verify with Labels: AI can occasionally make errors or misinterpret labels ("hallucinate"). You must always read and verify the physical packaging and ingredient lists on the actual product before consuming or using it.

Security: We secure your data using industry-standard HTTPS encryption for all network transfers. Your data is stored on highly secure, enterprise-grade Google Cloud Firestore database servers.
Retention: We retain your account data and health profiles for as long as you maintain an active account with us. Scan history and logs may be kept to show you your history feed.
International Data Transfers: Because ShuddhScan utilizes Google Cloud infrastructure, your data may be processed on servers located outside of your home country (including in the United States and other global Google data centers). We ensure all transfers comply with GDPR standard contractual clauses and applicable local security acts.

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Rectify or correct any inaccurate personal data.
Withdraw your consent to process your sensitive Health Profile at any time.

The App provides a built-in mechanism to immediately wipe your data. You do not need to submit manual requests.
Open the App.
Open the side drawer/navigation panel.
Navigate to Settings or Profile and click Delete Account Permanently.
Once confirmed, the App will execute an automated script that permanently deletes your Firebase Auth record, completely wipes your Firestore user profile and associated scan histories, and logs you out.
Alternatively, if you cannot access the App, you may request deletion by emailing us at the address provided in Section 10 below.

ShuddhScan is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain European jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal or sensitive information from children. If we discover that a child under the required age has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete that information from our servers.
