Rules of the Champs competition

You will need to:

• Be a paid-up member of Swansea Harriers

• Race as a Swansea Harrier

• Have notified us that you want to participate in the championships 

There will be separate championships for male and female athletes, with all performances being ‘age graded’ to create an equal playing field across the different age groups. Points will be awarded throughout the course of the championship on the basis of:

• 1 point per training session up to the first 3 THEN 6 points awarded for attending 3 (10pts for 6) TNT sessions per calendar month during the course of the championship.

• Position points- awarded to the top 10 athletes in a championship race - based on your age-graded time (10 points for 1st, 9 points for 2nd , 8 points for 3rd etc) -Top 10 races to count so a maximum of 100 points if you were lucky to come 1st after age grading in 10 races) 

• 4 extra points per race for those runners who finish in the top 5 

• 5points for just taking part in a Championship race. 10 races would mean 50 participation points.

• Bonus 5 points for participating in a Welsh Champs race.

Points (4) will also be awarded if you volunteer for marshalling at any of the races.

The overall winner will be the athlete with the most points at the end of the season.

 Awards for top 3 male and top 3 female athletes. There will be additional awards at the organisers’ discretion at the end of the season.
