Welcome to the SHSU Collegiate Veterans Association (CVA) website! The CVA is a student-run organization that aims to provide veteran and military-affiliated students with resources, opportunities, and support to help facilitate a successful transition into higher education and foster a strong foundation for the future.
Long before Sam Houston State was named a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs, the CVA was founded on the principle that “no warrior is left behind.” However, cliché that may sound to you now, a few weeks in the classroom, or just trying to get your classes in line might change your tune. Academia is an environment far different than any unit you have ever served in. College is an environment where each individual is responsible for their own success. The CVA is here to ensure that the 21st century's veterans become the next "Greatest Generation".
The Collegiate Veterans Association is an organization built to advocate, unite, inform, and empower all student veterans, no matter where you have deployed. Veterans of all branches, family members and supporters of the U.S. armed forces are welcomed. Throughout the year, we participate in a variety of SHSU intercollegiate sporting events. We also participate in other events with fellow Student Veterans of America chapters. Visit the Events tab to see more of our upcoming gatherings.

Information presented in the events tab is shared by the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) staff, VetSuccess Counselor, Student Veterans of America (SVA) and outside institutions.
