The Confirmation 9 Curriculum loosely follows Matthew Kelly's confirmation program, Decision Point. The entirety of this program can be found online.

  • To familiarize students with the structure of the New Testament

  • To explore the authorship of the Gospels

  • To understand the relationship between the Gospels

  • To compare the accounts of Christ's Baptism in the Four Gospels.

  • To consider the Temptation of Christ in the desert and relate it to our own experiences.

Objectives:

1. The Bible is a transformational gift from God that helps to answer life’s questions and is the key to solving problems. It is tool to become the best version of yourself.

2. The Bible is the Word of God and can help us understand God’s will for our lives.

3. A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey to a Holy place. Your spiritual journey is life; your Holy place is heaven.

4. We know God exists by 2 ways: Natural Reason and Supernatural Revelation.

5. He revealed himself (Divine Revelation) through

a. Sacred Scripture – the Bible

b. Holy Tradition – teachings of the Apostles

6. Bible has 2 parts: Old Testament and New Testament

7. Steps to Use Bible:

a. Pray – ask God to guide you well

b. Read a Chapter – Start with Matthew, Genesis or Psalms

c. Choose a word or phrase that stood out to you

d. Have a conversation with God about that reading/phrase

8. Habits are powerful – reading one chapter a day can pay off exponentially

Lord, let today be a time of discovery. A time to discover, more deeply, not only your words, but also how your words can help direct us to a life centered on you. Give us a desire to know more and to develop the habits needed to foster our growth in you. We ask this through Christ, our Lord, Amen.
