Confirmation at Sacred Heart Church is approximately an eighteen month process. The first year is focused on reinforcing the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the principals, precepts, and commandments of our Catholic faith. The final months are focused on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the candidate’s personal faith and the ministries of the Church. Preparation for Confirmation culminates in the student’s conscious decision to live out his/her Catholic faith commitment.

Attend Confirmation rehearsal prior to the Sacrament—Sponsors are urged to attend the rehearsal as well. If they are not able to, parents or another family member should attend.
Baptismal Certificate: A Baptismal certificate is required for all students receiving the sacrament of Confirmation.
Attendance: It is recognized that students in the Confirmation class will have other obligations throughout the journey. However, the Confirmation team expects that every effort be made to attend the sessions as scheduled as well as the days of retreat and special projects.
Special Projects: These projects will replace the service- hour requirement and will be organized throughout the program.
Saint Report: Each candidate will choose a Confirmation name which may be their baptismal name or taken from one of the saints, research that saint and complete a one page, typed report.
50 Questions: During the year, the students will be challenged to answer 50 questions pertaining to their Catholic faith. The questions will be reviewed incrementally, so as not to overburden them.
Questions should be addressed to our DRE, Mrs. Ann Crooks at DRE@sacredheartgroton.org
If for health and safety reasons, your family decides that it is best not to attend in-person Confirmation classes, a virtual option is available. The regular catechism class will be made available via Zoom, and the course materials will be posted on this website under the appropriate class.
If you would like to choose this option, you MUST contact Mrs. Crooks (DRE@sacredheartgroton.org) in order to get the zoom link and you must fill out the video conferencing permission slip.
