On designated days, students are given an opportunity to be tutored on a subject they are currently finding challenging. Students complete a Tutorial Request form and form a small group consisting of peers and a tutor. Together, they work collaboratively to solve the problem, pulling from class notes, textbooks, and even the internet!
Our AVID scholars must maintain a gpa of 2.5 or higher to continue in the program. Offering free tutoring is on of many ways we support and encourage out students to reach higher.
With AVID at Schurr, students have the opportunity to seek assistance with the college application process and receive constructive feedback on their personal statements. Moreover, Schurr High School hosts college ambassadors on campus, offering our students insights into various colleges, including majors, resources, statistics, and more.
