Welcome! I'm an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of HSS, IIT Roorkee, India.
My research focuses on the effect of labor demand shocks on various demographic outcomes. Specifically, I examine how local labor demand shocks affect labor market outcomes for young men and women, and what impact it has on family formation decisions, and social group inequality measured in terms of welfare gaps. Currently, I am working on the employment trajectories and health expenditure patterns associated with alcohol consumption in India. Another paper looks at the impact of digital financial transactions on individual and household level decision making. Additionally, my research also overlaps with international trade and regional economics. Recent research contribution includes a paper that looks at the heterogeneity of local employment multipliers in the United States.
