I am in constant hunt for good candidates to join my research group for internships, regular appointments, JRFs, and PhD candidates to work on heat mitigation and adaptation strategies, heat resilience using nature-based solutions, and heat-responsive urban planning strategies. Shreya was invited to "National Stakeholder Consultation on Heat, Gender and Climate Resilience" in Ahmedabad on April 2025 as an expert, organized by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, CII Center for Women Leadership, and Karmannya for developing a report to be submitted to Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India
Shreya was invited as a keynote speaker by Jodhpur Nagar Nigam North and Mahila Housing Trust for the "Jodhpur Heat Action Plan stakeholder workshop" alongside dignitaries from the National Resources Defence Council and Cambridge University to share my research on urban heat mitigation and adaptation during March 2025
Shreya delivered an invited talk on “Applications of human biometeorology for heat-resilient urban planning” at Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University for the Energy, Environment & People Research Group on December 2024
Shreya delivered a keynote at a stakeholder meeting under the project “Economic and Health Impact Assessment of Heat Adaptation Action: Case Studies from India” hosted by Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur in August 2024
Shreya was invited as a panelist for the “C40 Cities Roundtable Discussion on Reimagining Urban Planning to address Climate Change”, organized by C40 Cities, New Delhi in July 2024
Shreya was invited as a distinguished speaker on the “Western Arid Panel” for the workshop on “Climate Resilient Urban Sustainable Habitats” organized by the University of Toronto India Foundation, Tata Trusts, and IIT Delhi in July 2024
Shreya is an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Urban Planning at IIT Jodhpur. She was previously a Post Doctoral Research Fellow employed with Singapore Management University. She was a part of the Cooling Singapore 2.0 Project led by the Singapore ETH Centre. By education, She is an urban planner-architect turned climatologist. Her area of interest includes the application of statistical modeling, computational and sensing techniques to solve risks and hazards associated with the Environment and Society focusing on extreme heat mitigation, microscale climate modeling, human biometeorology, nature-based solutions, informal settlements, and urban resilience.
Shreya has been elected as the Asia Councilor of the International Society of Biometeorology (ISB) for 2023-26, responsible for promoting biometeorology research in Asia. Shreya is also an early career member of the International Association of Urban Climate (IAUC), responsible for various outreach. Besides research and academics, Shreya is enthusiastic about traveling, photography, and painting. An avid reader and movie buff, She is keenly interested in mentoring undergrad and grad students (especially female students in STEM) for various career needs.
