PhD, PostDoc, Visitor, Intern & Others

Please do read the below section for each student type before email me. I read every email but may only respond if there is a good match due to the large inquiry volume. Thank you for your understanding.

PhD:

Note that I take students from both ECE dept and CS dept.
How to apply?
- Please email me your CV, undergraduate transcripts, papers, a succinct yet concrete (1-2 pages) research statement of what you'd like to pursue during your PhD, and any other documents that you believe can demonstrate your excellence.
- If there is a good match after reading your email, I will let you know and encourage you to apply online through ECE or CS.
  - Tips for filling the ECE application: Apply for PhD instead of EngD; Choose ECE Dept; Area: Signal Analysis & Mach Intel-TRK; Source of Finance: NUS research scholarship or others if you have own source; select me me as proposed supervisor.
  - Tips for filling the CS application: TBA
- Some admission requirements made by the school: GPA>3.5 out of 4. TOEFL/IELTS/GRE.
- Note that 1) if you are currently in Singapore, or 2) if you are okay with 3 years service obligation i.e. working at Singapore after graduation, say PostDoc in our lab or FTE at local companies, the admission bar could be slightly lower.

Master at NUS:

EE/CEG 5003? Please email your CV, transcript, etc to me (mikeshou AT nus.edu.sg).
CS dissertation? Limited opening. Do the same as above, but please also prepare a 2-page research proposal. You may contact and engage some of my PostDoc/PhD to brainstorm and work on this proposal together. Thanks.

Visiting PhD Student:

How to apply? Email me the same as the above for PhD - research statement can be sent later. Indicate your funding source.
Who shall apply?
- Only for PhD student
- Record of at least 1 first author paper in top conferences
- Min duration is 1 year.

PostDoc:

How to apply? Email me the same as the above for PhD.
Who shall apply?
- Strong records of first author papers in top conferences
- The PostDoc duration is typically 2-3 years, at least 1 year if you are exceptionally excellent
