Shovon shaha

I am a Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering graduate and research professional with experience in infectious disease research, molecular diagnostics, immunology, microbiology, and genomics. Currently working as a Research Fellow at icddr,b, within the One Health Laboratory, Infectious Diseases Division, Enteric and Respiratory Infections Department, I am involved in laboratory-based research focused on infectious diseases and their molecular characteristics.

My professional experience includes the application of molecular and immunological techniques such as PCR, qPCR/RT-PCR, ELISA, nucleic acid extraction, and next-generation sequencing (NGS). I am particularly interested in integrating laboratory diagnostics with genomic and bioinformatic approaches to better understand pathogens, disease mechanisms, antimicrobial resistance, and clinically relevant molecular markers.

My long-term research interests lie in molecular biology, microbial genomics, infectious disease research, antimicrobial resistance, molecular diagnostics, and bioinformatics. I aim to contribute to research that connects advanced genomic and molecular approaches with real-world healthcare challenges, while continuing to develop as an independent researcher and contribute to scientific education and research in Bangladesh.
