2. Self-assembly of nanomaterials

One of the intriguing features of nanocrystals is their resemblances to atoms. They can be assembled into various packing symmetries such as face-centered cubic (fcc), body-centered cubic (bcc), and hexagonal close packing (hcp) just like what we observe in ionic or metallic crystals. Our group investigates the self-assembly of nanocrystals with polymeric ligands. We aim to expand the phase behavior and functionality of nanomaterials using nanocrystals and polymeric ligands as building blocks.
