The Promenade 2035 project is a massive, multi-phase undertaking that, if approved, will bring significant changes to the Warner Center area. The inclusion of a 15,000 seat Entertainment and Sports Center has aroused concern among some residents, not least because it hasn't yet been determined whether or not the Center will have a roof. This could mean significant noise impacts caused by concerts and sporting events. Another cause for concern is that the developer is requesting a Master Alcohol Permit for on-site and off-site alcohol sales, without any details as to how many sites would be included. The request also fails to indicate whether the permits would cover beer and wine or a full line of alcoholic beverages.
If you're concerned about these issues, you have until Thursday, July 26 to comment on the Environmental Impact Report. Send your comments to....

The health of our community is tied to our own health. And just like we have to take care of our own health, we have to take care of the health of our communities.
Nightlife and tourism are both an important part of the local economy, and both can be good for the community, up to a point. Many of us enjoy going out for a drink with friends, catching a live band, or dancing at a club. But when we have too many bars in one neighborhood, it can lead to higher crime. When a DJ is cutting loose on a rooftop after midnight, people who need rest can't sleep. When a neighbor turns their home into a weekend party house, it can cause all sorts of problems for others who live on the block.
In order to keep our community healthy we have to be engaged in how it grows. When city officials are dumping too many liquor permits in a neighborhood, we have to speak out. When it's commonplace for new hotels to feature rooftop bars with live entertainment, we have to draw a line. When quiet neighborhoods become party hubs, we need to let our elected officials know that we won't stand for it.
