Sunghoon Kim, Ph.D.
Sunghoon received his B.S. in Physics and Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Bioscience from Pohang University of Science and Technology. He conducted his postdoctoral research in Dr. Nahum Sonenberg's lab at McGill University and in Dr. Prerana Shrestha's lab at Stony Brook University. His primary research interest is the molecular contributions of eukaryotic mRNA translation to brain development, function, and disease. Outside of research, Sunghoon enjoys playing baseball, running, and learning French.
Hyunji Seo, Master's Candidate (2025.02-)
Hyunji is a master's course student in the Lab of Molecular Neurobiology. She is interested in the molecular mechanisms of translation regulation and how this regulation affects physiological changes, such as neurodevelopment. In her free time, she enjoys watching baseball games.
Soyeon Chang, Undergraduate Student (2025.01-)
Soyeon is an undergraduate student in the Lab of Molecular Neurobiology. Her main area of interest is hippocampal synaptic plasticity, and she is interested in learning and memory that occurs in the hippocampus in detail. Soyeon is interested in approaching LTP and LTD with different molecular research methods. She is also broadly interested in brain development and disease.
Seo Hyun Cho, Undergraduate Student (2025.01-)
Seo Hyun is working on a review paper in the Lab of Molecular Neurobiology. Her interest is to investigate the effects of errors in mRNA translation on humans and the possible associations with diseases, especially neurological diseases, that may result from these errors. She is also deeply interested in the effects of mRNA translation on brain development and the molecular mechanisms.
Jiyeon Do, Undergraduate Student (2025.01-)
Jiyeon is interested in mRNA translation, mitochondrial function, molecular biology, and neuroscience. Specifically, she is curious about how cells regulate their functions and how cellular mechanisms influence complex organs such as the brain. Jiyeon plans to deepen her knowledge and grow as a researcher in the Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory. Her hobby is taking care of plants, and in her free time, Jiyeon enjoys reading books and swimming.
Suhwan Kim, Undergraduate Student (2025.01-)
Suhwan is a student enrolled in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology at Chungnam National University. His area of interest in biology is the investigation of the relationship between errors in the mRNA translation process and clinical symptoms.
Donguk Lee, Undergraduate Student (2025.01-)
Donguk is an undergraduate student in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology at Chungnam National University. His primary academic interest lies in understanding the role of mRNA translation in memory consolidation and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Doyeon Na, Undergraduate Student (2025.01-)
Doyeon is a student in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology at Chungnam National University. She has always been interested in neurobiology, and after entering the department, she found a great interest in studying translation mechanisms.
