Lowering Eye Pressure and Restoring Vision
Lowering Eye Pressure and Restoring Vision
Our 45-year-old patient with high eye pressure (24mmHg) sought acupuncture treatment. After a few sessions, her eye discomfort improved, and her vision clarity increased. A follow-up eye exam showed her eye pressure had dropped to 18mmHg, within the normal range (12-22mmHg). This case highlights acupuncture's potential to complement conventional treatments for eye conditions. While not a replacement for medical care, acupuncture can contribute to overall well-being. If you or someone you know faces eye health challenges, consider acupuncture as part of your holistic approach to health and wellness.

Sarcoidosis :an autoimmune disease
A 56-year-old female presented to our acupuncture clinic with complaints of knee and calf pain accompanied by nodular red patches for the past 6 weeks. She had also visited the emergency department during the onset of symptoms, where lower limb deep vein thrombosis was ruled out. The patient was not prescribed medication as the possibility of an autoimmune issue was suspected, albeit without a definitive diagnosis.
Upon examination at our clinic using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) methods, the primary issues identified were qi and blood deficiency, poor circulation in the lower limbs, and significant edema. Additionally, abdominal distension was noted, and upon inquiry, the patient revealed recent constipation issues, though she did not perceive them to be related to the lower limb pain. However, according to TCM theory, many autoimmune conditions are associated with gastrointestinal issues.
A treatment plan was devised primarily utilizing acupuncture to stimulate specific points, enhance circulation in the lower limbs, alleviate edema, and perform bloodletting therapy on the red patches to address inflammation. It was emphasized that maintaining intestinal health was crucial. Therefore, in addition to acupuncture, the patient was advised to consume celery juice and ginger and taught self-abdominal massage techniques.
Following one session of treatment, there was significant improvement in lower limb edema and constipation. After three sessions, pain decreased by 90%, and the red patches noticeably receded. At this point, the GP definitively diagnosed the condition as sarcoidosis and noted some pulmonary issues. Hence, our treatment is ongoing.
This case underscores that the scope of acupuncture therapy extends beyond pain management. Many obscure conditions with unclear etiology can also yield rapid results following TCM principles.
