Shipley Boycott Campaign

Taking a lead from the global BDS Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement to build a coalition of Shipley businesses opposed to Israeli apartheid and their oppression of Palestinians.

Israel’s recent actions during the war in Gaza include:

• Dropping bombs on civilians and refugee camps.

• Blowing up hospitals, schools, places of worship. 

• Denying humanitarian aid, food, water and electricity to the civilian population. 

The impact of these internationally recognised violations of humanitarian law is deliberate loss of life, either directly by weapons or through disease and food insecurity. This is simply unjust and immoral. 

We are asking local businesses to join us in playing a small part in holding the Israeli government to account by strategically boycotting and divesting from the list of companies identified by the BDS movement. The aim is to become part of a global movement applying maximum pressure on Israel to comply with international law, end its war crimes and bring an end to the apartheid conditions as recognised by the major human rights organisations and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

We are asking all businesses in the Shipley ward to join our campaign, not only to play a part in the liberation of the Palestinian people but also to inspire other businesses outside of Shipley to follow suit. British companies which opposed the South African apartheid regime in the 1970s and 1980s now enjoy reputational benefit and know that they stood on the right side of history.
