Welcome to my site!

Jihadism is armed combat in the name of Allah, but jihadism is only a small branch of Islam with extremist views that do not represent the entire faith. Some jihadists truly believe in their message, but many are simply looking for a way to feel powerful in a society where they have been socioeconomically dislocated.

Jihadists primarily use the internet for communication, radicalization, and recruitment. There is a possible threat of hacking, but it is slim because hacking requires resources and expertise not widely available to anyone- much less terrorist groups.

The first amendment guarantees free speech in the U.S. How do we handle speech over the internet? Should free speech be protected for terrorists? There is not one clear-cut answer, and this topic will likely continue to be controversial, but some censorship is necessary in order to keep the internet safe and accessible.
