Overview
Rising the antibiotic-resistance bacteria such as “super-bugs” is one of the most serious global issues. Gram-negative bacteria have beta-barrel membrane protein in the outer membrane that are an important role for post-pathogen interaction and virulence functions as well as cell viability. Our interests are especially focused on how beta-barrel membrane proteins are assembled into the outer membranes of bacteria. In order to address this question, in our lab uses the novel biochemical method termed “EMM assembly assay” and other biochemical approaches. Aim of our lab is developing the new drugs targeting beta-barrel membrane protein assembly.
