Baptism

Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. It is an outward expression of what one has already decided in their heart. Jesus was baptized when he was on the earth, and we do the same to follow His example.

At Shiloh Baptist Church of Greensboro, NC, baptism is being submerged under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus and raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection.

Baptism is considered a public declaration of three things:

  • That one is a follower of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41a),

  • That one is beginning a changed life in Christ (Romans 6:4),

  • That one is a part of the family of faith (Galatians 3:26-27)..
