Somewhere over Central India during monsoons
I hold a PhD in Climate Science from the Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (CAOS), Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. I did it under the supervision of Prof Arindam Chakraborty. My research focuses on large-scale climate variability, with an emphasis on identifying key modes, isolating their underlying mechanisms, and understanding their global impacts. In particular, I study decadal variability associated with the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Global Monsoon. During my PhD, I investigated how natural decadal climate variability shapes ENSO seasonal transitions, focusing on the role of intrinsic atmosphere–ocean processes in its evolution. I received the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) in August 2020. I hail from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh (gorakhpur.nic.in/).
When I’m not immersed in research, I enjoy spending time with my wife, cooking, traveling, hiking and trekking in nature, exploring music, reading about ancient history, culture and being around pets.
ENSO transition dynamics, Decadal climate variability, Global monsoon and its teleconnections.
