Dr. Shijuan Chen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She is a remote sensing and geospatial scientist. Her research focuses on land system change monitoring, the underlying drivers of change, and the resulting impacts on communities using a combination of remote sensing technology, field measurements, and socio-economic data.

Vishal Verma is a PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He is using a transdisciplinary research methodology to assess flood management and adaptation strategies in the Kosi River Basin, India. In Shijuan Chen’s lab, he is working as a research assistant on the multi-hazard risks project in Greater Boston and the geospatial project examining wildfires.
