About me

I joined HKUST-GZ as an assistant professor at IoT Thrust in Feb, 2024. I graduated from the SPiNCOM group at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities., in 2022. I am fortunate to work under the supervision of Prof. Georgios. B. Giannakis, and previously of Prof. Liuqing Yang at Colorado State University. I obtained B.S. from Nankai University in 2014 and M.S. from Peking University in 2017. Before joining HKUST-GZ, I worked at Samsung SoC R&D Lab as a Senior RF engineer in San Diego.

Research Areas

My mission is to transform invisible physical field into intelligent design insights. My research lies in the areas of statistical ML, wireless networking and large model, with applications to Next-Generation RAN, Autonomous Driving, Embodied Intelligence and Low-Altitude Networking. I am particularly interested in the following directions:

  1. Spatial AI for Networking (Indoor, V2X, Low-Altitude Economy)

  2. Probabilistic ML for Wireless (Bayesian Optimization, Bayesian Leaning, Conformal Prediction)

  3. Agentic AI and AI-RAN (Network Planning, Inference Acceleration, Muti-Agent Coordination)

Openings

Note: I have only one Ph.D. position open for Fall 2027 / Spring 2028. Based on my past experience, I will not receive an excessive volume of applications, so it will still be manageable for me to respond within three working days of your application.

If you find my research areas intriguing😀, consider yourself motivated🤗, and appreciate my mentoring philosophy😊, please feel free to email me by attaching your resume, transcripts, and sample publications if any, with the subject title formatted as "[Name]_[University]_[Major]_[Applied Position]." Preference will be given to those with a solid mathematical foundation, strong hand-on skills and good publication track record. Past experience in AI implementation, embedded programming, USRP, or FPGA will be a big plus!

Note:

  • The University Requires a standard English proficiency test for Ph.D. applicants: TOFEL-iBT: 80; IELTS: 6.5 (all sub-score: 5.5). For Ph.D. students, the postgraduate studentship (PGS) is CNY 15,000 per month.
