About me

Hi, welcome to my site! I am Shijian! 

I graduated from the SPiNCOM group at the Department of ECE, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities., 2022. I am fortunate to work under the supervision of Prof. Georgios. B. Giannakis, and previously of Prof. Liuqing Yang at Colorado State University. I obtained B.S. from Nankai University in 2014 and M.S. from Peking University in 2017. Before joining HKUST-GZ, I was a Senior RF engineer working at Samsung SoC R&D Lab, San Diego. I also took internships at Shenzhen Big Data Institute and Qualcomm Incorporated, San Diego.

Research Areas

My research lies in the broad areas of statistical signal processing, wireless communication, and machine learning, aiming to offer reliable transmission solutions contributing to 6G, Internet of Vehicles, and Intelligent IoT Systems. I am particularly interested in the following directions:

Openings

Multiple openings are beginning in Fall 2024/Spring 2025, including fully-funded Ph.D., Post-doc, and RA positions. I have no strict restrictions on the applicant's background but preference will be placed on those from EE/CS majors with a solid mathematical foundation. Project experience in embedded programming and hardware design will be a big plus!

Note: The University Requires a standard English proficiency test for Ph.D. applicants: TOFEL-iBT: 80; IELTS: 6.5 (all subscore: 5.5). For Ph.D. students, the postgraduate studentship (PGS) is CNY 15,000 per month. For Postdocs, salary is highly competitive by international standards and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
