Sleep disturbances are present among over half of individuals who have experienced interpersonal violence. These high rates are concerning as sleep disturbances increase risk for poor mental and physical health outcomes and can lead to significant economic and occupational costs. This mixed-methods study aims to improve understanding of sleep health after recent sexual assault.
Increased alcohol use following experiences of sexual assault is a significant public health problem, often leading to persistent physical and psychological difficulties. To inform the development of effective intervention strategies to reduce rates of drinking, this NIAAA-funded study examined proximal predictors of alcohol use among women who have experienced sexual assault.
